Grace Cuddihy is a writer, activist, foster dog parent, baking enthusiast, organizer with the Sunrise Movement and TREEage, and high school Senior. Grace loves writing personal essays and writes frequently about her experience living with chronic illness. In their free time, she enjoys reading, watching Survivor and phone banking. Grace’s favorite book series is Percy Jackson: Heroes of Olympus.

Sunrise National Force to Be Reckoned With Phonebanking & NYC Political Endorsements Team

  • Team Lead of the Phonebanking Team (Grade 11)

    • Organize and facilitate phonebanks for candidates endorsed by the Sunrise Movement

  • Team Lead of the Political Endorsements Team (Grade 11 - Grade 12)

    • Endorse political candidates in NYC on behalf of the Sunrise Movement

    • Facilitate the endorsement process for Sunrise NYC

    • Organize for Sunrise NYC endorsed candidates through door-knocking, phonebanking, and fundraising

2019 - Present

Avenues TREEage

  • Founder and President (Grades 10-12) of Avenues branch of the environmental group TREEage

  • Organize for candidates endorsed by TREEage as well as promote climate literacy in our school community

  • Started a community fridge in the Chelsea Area

  • Raised $1300 for TREEage and Team Trees

  • Mailed 200 postcards to Georgia voters in the 2020 Presidential Election

  • Hosted 8 “Climate Talks” which are brief presentations on specific aspects of the Climate Crisis from topics such as air pollution, permafrost, to topics such as the COVID-19 pandemic and environmental racism

  • Hosted two petitioning, three phonebanking, and eight canvassing events for Sandy Nurse on behalf of the Avenues TREEage Club

2020 - Present

Director of Strategy and Operations, State Senator Alessandra Biaggi

  • Manage the Senator’s Calendar, create the Senator’s daily briefs, and attend meetings on behalf of the Senator

  • Manage the internship program, including hosting weekly internship meetings, inviting speakers, etc.

  • Help organize a “Food and Health Empowerment Fair,” researched and met with food organizations and institutes providing food insecurity assistance to residents of the Bronx

  • Phonebank voters and volunteers on behalf of Shahana Hanif for City Council

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee

  • Founder and Co-President (Grade 11 - Grade 12) hosting weekly meetings to discuss issues of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within our school community

  • Host a space for leaders of Affinity Group clubs such as Latinx, BSU, Women of Color Association, Queer-Straight Alliance, Asian Awareness, etc. to converse with each other

  • Regularly meet with the administration to propose solutions and organize educational events

  • Run the Black at Avenues Instagram account

  • Publish a monthly newsletter on various topics relating to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

  • Hosted a panel with Avenues faculty to discuss how to create a more inclusive classroom in the Avenues community

  • Advocated to get the Incident Response Protocol published in the student handbook

  • Won “Ché and Grace” Award at the Inclusion Awards
